On 3 June 1930, 62 persons interested in the purposes of the Sons of the American Revolution met at the Milbrook Country Club, Greenwich, where they signed a petition to affirm their dedication and thereby determined to create the Captain Matthew Mead Branch.

Included in the list of distinguished persons signing the charter was Judge James R. Mead. Since the beginning of the Branch, members have worked diligently throughout the area to foster the ideals and purposes of the SAR.
