Nathan Hale Schoolhouse Project
The Connecticut SAR has begun a multiyear project to improve our museums so they can become better destinations and
educate in a more meaningful way about our state hero Nathan Hale. They are:

Nathan Hale Schoolhouse East Haddam, CT |

Nathan Hale Schoolhouse New London, CT |
We have already received a grant from the Connecticut Humanities Council to produce a master plan for the two sites.
This will include new displays that will be able to travel in the off-season, furnishings, new programs, a possible
new building in East Haddam, and much more.
This plan will then be used to set priorities for the implementaion phase. How much we implement will depend
entirely on how much we can raise in donations for the project.
We have already started a fund raising campaign within our own membership, which is off to a good start. We've also
sent request letters to many corporations in CT but have not had any positive results yet, but we are hopeful.
While all of that is going on, we are working on a new brochure for the East Haddam Schoolhouse due to a generous
grant from the Middlesex County Community Foundation which is supported in part by the Connecticut Humanities Council.
Nathan Hale died for his country and at the end said
I only regret that I have but one life to lose for
my country.
As members of the SAR, it is the least we can do to honor the sacrifice
that this hero gave to our nation.
