Associated Locations in CT

Locations in Connecticut associated with the Revolutionary Road, but not directly on the route, are:

  • Before the whole French army marched from Rhode Island in June 1781, Washington and Rochambeau had met at Hartford 20-22 Sep '80, and at Wethersfield, just south of Hartford, May 21-23 '81.

  • The French cavalry consisted of Lauzun's hussars, whose mounts wintered at Lebanon, CT, in 1780-81.

  • On March 4, 1781 General Washington had lunch with Reverand Colton at his parish farm in Bolton. Colton owned the farm where Rochambeau camped on June 21 (5th encampment). This historic farm is one of the few left and efforts are underway to preserve it.
